Biden: Nine heads of state have said I’ve ‘got to win’ in November

President Biden on Wednesday said that several foreign leaders have told him he has to beat former President Trump, the likely GOP nominee, in November.

“As I walk out of meetings, a head of state will find an excuse to come up close…and say ‘you’ve got to win,’” Biden recalled at a fundraiser in San Francisco.

“Not because I’m so special,” he added. “’You’ve got to win because my democracy is at stake if the other guy wins,’” the president said, quoting heads of state. “Nine heads of state have done that with me.”

The president bashed the GOP throughout his remarks at the fundraiser on Wednesday evening.

He said that he “served with real racists” in the Senate and called out the late Sen. Strom Thurmond (R-S.C.). He added, “These guys are worse. These guys do not believe in basic democratic principles,” referring to Republican lawmakers.

“Time and again, Republicans show they are the party of chaos and division,” Biden said.

Biden is on a three-day swing in California to fundraise for his reelection campaign this week. Earlier Wednesday, he took aim at Trump for his response to Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny’s death last week.

The president also called Russian President Vladimir Putin a “crazy SOB,” after he has squarely blamed Putin for Navalny’s death.
