The language education site Learn Spanish With James has shared a list of the best destinations for solo-travellers to visit on their next trip.
A growing number of tourists are going around the world without friends or family, which can help to cut down on costs and ensure travellers are able to see what they want to at their own pace.
Unusurprisingly, Learn Spanish With James initially recommended that solo travellers pay a visit to Barcelona, one of Spain’s largest cities.
Found on the northeastern coast of the country, Barcelona has an incredibly rich culture that enthralls the millions that visit each year.
In particular, the company recommended that visitors see the architecture of Antoni Gaudí, the designer of the famous La Sagrada Familia cathedral, and take a walk down the streets of La Rambla, a tree-lined boulevard featuring street performers and musicians.
Tourists happy to travel a little further for their solo getaway were advised by Learn Spanish With James to visit Oaxaca City in Mexico.
Found in the south of the country, the city is known for having a mix of colonial and indigenous architectures, with plenty of ruins found throughout the area.
In particular, the company suggested that those taking a break in Oaxaca City should take a cooking class to learn about the local cuisine and impress their loved ones when they return.
Also in South America, Learn Spanish With James suggested that those travelling on their own should visit Cusco in Peru for some tranquility.
Believed to be the oldest city in the Americas, Cusco has a relatively small population of about 430,000, making it feel like a peaceful destination.
However, the best sights in the area can be found outside of the city, with the company encouraging solo tourists to take a walk along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, known by many as the ‘Lost City of the Incas’.
Finally, Learn Spanish With James recommended that solo tourists would benefit from a trip to Buenos Aires in Argentina.
Sometimes referred to as the ‘Paris of South America’, Buenos Aires has a vibrant range of neighbourhoods which all have their own personality, such as Palermo featuring a wide range of bars and pubs and San Telmo featuring bohemian architecture.
Naturally, one of the most defining features of the city is the tango dance, which originated in the city, with the website urging visitors to see one of the many shows that can be found throughout Buenos Aires.
