The Cats pushed late, but superstar forward Jeremy Cameron blazed two chances to keep his side in it as they suffered their first loss of the season.

But it was Fritsch, who was the hero with three majors, including what might be the goal of the year.

“He has pulled one out of the sky. Miraculous. How on earth did he manage to get that ball to bend through from the impossible angle like that,” Channel 7 commentator Alister Nicholson said.

“He had to weight it perfectly, fantastic from him,” Jobe Watson added.

“He had no right to kick that goal,” Luke Darcy said.

It capped off a cracking game that had many twists and turns and came after a bizarre second quarter where neither team kicked a goal.

While Fritsch will take the plaudits, the Demons had plenty of winners on the night.

Defenders Steven May and Jake Lever were immense and kept Tom Hawkins and Jeremy Cameron goalless, while captain Max Gawn recovered from a slow start and a knee to the head to be pivotal in the second half.

Young gun Caleb Windsor was fantastic with 18 shots and a goal, while Harrison Petty hauled in nine marks in a superb performance.
