Bargain hunters empty John Lewis shelves of cheap Google Pixel phone with a killer camera as price drops to £300

SHOPPERS have gone wild for a Google Pixel smartphone deal that’s dropped to a tempting price at John Lewis.

The Pixel 7a is Google’s most recent budget handset

It features many of the bells and whistles that the Pixel range has become well-known for including a killer camera.

The device also packs some of Google’s top photography features, such as photo unblur and magic eraser to remove objects you don’t want appearing in snaps.

Google has made the handset cheaper by sacrificing some perks, such as less resistance to water and no reverse charging so you can’t share battery with friends in need wirelessly.

BATTERY WOES?

The battery also doesn’t last as long as the main Pixel 7.

Battery seems to generally be one of the main areas of complaint from existing users.

“I came from a Pixel 4a, but happy with this Pixel 7a,” one positive HotUKDeals user wrote.

“I find it snappier, amazing camera, love face recognition to unlock, wireless charging – been happy with the upgrade.

“Know battery is what always will let down these mid range phones, but for someone that uses it quite a bit, gets me through the day no problem.”

Other reviews on the site were less satisfied, with one saying: “Awful battery life. Got rid after 4 months.”

On the upside, one great advantage for all Pixels is that they get Android upgrades pretty fast seeing as Google runs the operating system.

Some users suspect the Pixel 7a is falling in price due to rumours of a new Pixel coming out in a couple of months.

In The Sun’s review last year, we found that the battery gets you a good day’s life on the Pixel 7a when using various apps.

The device is currently available for £399 at John Lewis.

But if you have a free My John Lewis member account you can get an extra £100 off by entering discount code PIXEL100 at the checkout.
