NEW DELHI: The approaching consecration of the Ram mandir in Ayodhya loomed large over the meeting of the INDIA bloc here on Tuesday.
Sources said many participants said BJP would hype up the temple’s inauguration with an intent to turn it into a theme for the 2024 elections.
“They are making it appear as if January 22 is more important than January 26 when Republic Day is celebrated,” a source quoted a leader of one of the Left parties as saying.
The meeting of the opposition grouping coincided with intensifying preparations for the temple’s inauguration in Ayodhya on January 22.
PM Modi will be the chief guest at the mega event being put in place by UP government, a trust aligned with VHP and the larger Sangh Parivar as well as the Centre, which has chipped in with the inauguration of an airport in Ayodhya and the expansion of the local railway station.
