Known for shaping much of postwar Australian suburban living, Mr Walker was one of the country’s richest businessmen.

The veteran was also the founder of Walker Corporation, his family’s private property development group.

Lang’s health had been deteriorating for some time, according to reports, with multiple stints in hospital recorded over the Christmas holidays.

In 2015, he was awarded the Order of Australia for his efforts and service to the community.

Lang’s total combined net worth was estimated to be around $2.5billion (£1.2billion), according to Forbes.

The website listed him as the 18th richest person in Australia.

He was also said to own a fleet of yachts, all named Kokomo – a name he used for every boat he’s owned besides one.

Amongst his property’s was a 140-acre private island in Fiji that he bought in 2011.

Also named Kokomo, the island opened to visitors in March 2017.

His death was confirmed by his family on Sunday.

Lang’s wife, Sue, and three adult children, Blake, Chad and Georgia, were by his side as he passed overnight.

He also had ten grandchildren.
