Article 370 box office collection: Yami Gautam starrer crosses Rs 75 crore mark on Sunday | Hindi Movie News

Yami Gautam’s Article 370 has crossed a major landmark, as the film on its 31st day at the box office crossed the Rs 75 crore mark. ETimes in its report at the start of the week, had predicted that film will be crossing the magical figure by the end of weekend and that’s exactly how it has happened. In the process the film has now also gone on to become the 8th highest grossing women led film replacing Sonam Kapoor’s Neerja which was based on the life of Air-hostess Neerja Bhanot who lost her life in the line of duty during a hijacking attempt. The film has gone on to become a major money spinner for the makers, as the reported budget for the film is just Rs 20 crore and it has also been announced tax free in Madhya Pradesh.
Yami’s film based on the abrogation of Article 370 which took place in 2019, minted Rs 78 lakhs on Sunday and on Saturday it had added another Rs 67 lakhs to its tally, taking the overall collection of the film to Rs 75.6 crore. And the number is expected to jump even more on Monday thanks to holidays on the occasion of Holi festival.
The film in its first week earned Rs 35.6 crore, in second week added Rs 22.3 crore ,in third week it added another Rs 11.3 crore and in the fourth weekend it added Rs 4.8 crore.. The film’s business got impacted by the release of Ajay Devgn’s Shaitaan and Siddharth Malhotra’s Yodha, but the film has managed to find its audience and its tax free status in Madhya Pradesh has also added more audience members to the film.
The film continues to be Yami’s 5th biggest hit till date, and seems unlikely to jump up the ranking, as her next biggest money spinner was Rakesh Roshan’s Kaabil, which minted over Rs 100 crore at the box office.
