Veteran actor Anupam Kher’s upcoming film Vijay 69 has been a journey filled with both excitement and challenges. The actor, portraying a 69-year-old triathlon athlete in the film, disclosed that he embarked on the demanding task of learning swimming just last year, solely for this role.

Speaking at the Next on Netflix event in Mumbai on Thursday, Kher shared insights into his experience, stating, “When I heard the story of this film, I didn’t know how to swim. I learned to swim last year and it’s one of my achievements like it’s an achievement for my character.”
Despite his dedication, Kher faced adversity during the filming process, revealing that he sustained a shoulder injury with only three days of shooting left. Undeterred, he emphasized the significance of Vijay 69 in his filmography.
Reflecting on his prolific career, Kher asserted, “I have done 540 films in my career, and this one definitely finds a place in the top 5 films in my filmography, trust me because I’ve seen the film. This film will inspire a lot of people. I also broke my shoulder during the shoot, and we had to stall the remaining 3 days of shooting on the film.”
Despite the challenges and setbacks, Kher expressed his satisfaction with the film’s outcome, remarking, “I’m glad with the way this film has turned out.”
Vijay 69, produced by YRF Entertainment and helmed by director Akshay Roy, promises to be a compelling tale of resilience and determination. The collaboration between Indian studio giant YRF and Netflix underscores the film’s broader reach and potential impact.
Meanwhile apart from this, the actor has Kangana Ranaut’s directorial Emergency. Some of his other films include Anurag Basu’s Metro In Dino with Aditya Roy Kapur and Sara Ali Khan, The Signature with Mahima Chaudhry and Nautanki.
