Android owners receive free upgrade that reveals all the devices connected to their Wi-Fi – and it can fix slow speeds

THE Google Home app has welcomed a new feature that immediately reveals to Android owners every device that is connected to their home Wi-Fi network.

The new perk will be essential when tackling slow internet speeds – as users can quickly check if their bandwidth has been overrun with devices.

This list of connected devices might just consist of yours or your guests’ gadgets.

These may include your Google Chromecast stick, your Sky box, a pal’s phone or even your smart fridge.

Essentially, anything that is connected to your Google or Nest Wi-Fi router.

But it can also reveal if a sneaky freeloader is piggybacking on your network and draining your bandwidth – leaving you with sluggish internet.

To access it, all Android users need to do is open the Google Home app, tap on the Wi-Fi page and select the Devices option.

From there, a Search for devices bar will appear.

As you start typing a device name into the bar, the list of what’s connected to your Google or Nest Wi-Fi router will update.

Results include both devices currently on your network and those currently offline, according to 9to5Google.

If you can’t access the feature yet, make sure your device is updated to the latest software.

The Wi-Fi device search feature rolled out with Google Home 3.9 on Android. 

Apple’s iOS has yet to introduce a similarly beneficial feature, leaving Android owners better placed to combat Wi-Fi theft.
