Referring to 2014, Shah said people were migrating from Kairana, Muzaffarnagar and Saharanpur. “Nobody was safe. You voted the BJP government into power in 2017 and the Yogi government put an end to the terror of criminals, stopped migration, and secured people. Instead of innocent citizens, goondas are migrating from the state,” he said.
Urging people to vote for the BJP to make PM Narendra Modi the head of the country for the third time, Shah reminded the people that under the UPA government, the fair remunerative price (FRP) of sugarcane was ₹210 per quintal, which under the Modi government was increased to ₹340 per quintal.
He also said that during the BSP and SP governments, 19 and 10 sugar mills closed down respectively while more than 20 mills were restarted and 5 new mills were set up by the BJP government.
Attacking the Congress, he said the party kept the Ram Janmbhoomi issue stalled for 50 years while PM Modi not only laid the foundation stone of the temple, but also carried out its consecration.
This was Shah’s first public meeting in UP after the announcement of Lok Sabha elections. He held a joint rally with RLD chief Jayant Singh to canvas for the BJP candidate from Muzaffarnagar, Sanjeev Balyan.Singh, in a combative mode against former ally Akhilesh Yadav who had called him a “penny” on the sidelines of the INDIA bloc rally, said “the victory of Balyan will show them (him) that he has not flipped (like a penny), but performed a knockdown (palta nahi hun, ise patkani maarna kehte hain).””I saw a statement of a former CM of UP. I will not say anything personal about him. But, I want to make a special appeal to the people of Muzaffarnagar that our prestige is on the line. Make Sanjeev ji win with such votes that those people get to know that I have not flipped but delivered a knockdown.” Singh said.
