The theme park will be extending its opening hours on select days through March.

On March, 16, 23, and 30, 2024, the theme park will be open until 8pm, allowing guests to enjoy “an after-hours adventure” where they’ll be able to ride rollercoasters like Wicker Man, The Smiler and Oblivion.

In addition to the extended opening hours, visitors will also be able to view two rides from a new perspective.

The experience is called Track Walks, and it will give parkgoers the chance to walk alongside both Oblivion and Wicker Man – two of the theme park’s top rollercoasters.

Visitors will either be able to walk to the top of Oblivion’s 180-foot drop or walk alongside Wicker Man.

After being closed for large parts of 2023, The return of Hex – The Legend of the Towers will return for a new season.

Based on a local legend, the walkthrough haunted house ride is set within within the heart of the grade II listed towers at the theme park.

This won’t be the only iconic ride set to reopen in 2024.

After undergoing its biggest overhaul in its 30-year history, the ride will now be known as Nemesis Reborn.

There will be plenty of new attractions for younger visitors too as CBeebies Land marks its 10th anniversary, with the theme park announcing some brand-new additions in the coming weeks.

Until the new attractions are announced, younger parkgoers will be able to enjoy family-friendly rides like JoJo and Gran Gran at Home, where children can explore Gran Gran’s house.

Other rides in the child-friendly zone include Postman Pat Parcel Post, Gangsta Granny: The Ride, Mutiny Bay, and Spinball Whizzer.

Throughout the year, the theme park will be hosting a series of events, including a family-friendly Oktoberfest, the award-winning Scarefest, complete with brand-new scares, the Fireworks Spectacular and enchanting Christmas.

This year, Alton Towers will also be introducing brand-new VIP packages.

Some of the VIP packages will include theme park entry, express car parking, fastracks, exclusive merchandise and more.

Bianca Sammut, Divisional Director for Alton Towers Resort, said: “I am incredibly excited for the 2024 season and to launch brand-new experiences for our guests.

“We are dedicated to creating a season filled with excitement and unforgettable moments, providing a form of escapism for both thrill-seekers and families alike.

“In addition to the fantastic new experiences, we are looking forward to welcoming the return of the much-loved dark ride Hex, a series of events and entertainment, and celebrating 10 years of the UK’s only CBeebies Land. It’s going to be a jam-packed year and we can’t wait for guests to join us.”

Alton Towers Resort is the largest theme park in the UK, covering 550 acres.

Despite currently being closed for the winter, the popular theme park does offer a February half-term getaway.

The Pirate Takeover returns from February 10 to February 25, 2024, with entertainment and theme park entry to Mutiny Baty, Cbeebies Land and Towers Street.
