Aldi, Lidl and Iceland issue food warning to shoppers

When there is a problem with a food product which means it should not be sold it might be withdrawn from shelves or recalled, customers are asked to return the item.

Aldi, Iceland and Lidl are the latest supermarkets to recall foods that have been branded “unsafe to eat” due to the presence of allergens, or foreign objects.

Lidl

A statement from the Food Standards Agency (FSA) read: “Lidl is recalling various Tower Gate Cookies because they may contain pieces of metal. The possible presence of metal makes these products unsafe to eat.”

Lidl GB and Northern Ireland customers are at risk and have been urged to check specific dates of three different flavours if they have purchased the products.

The frozen supermarket giant is recalling its 4 Creamy Chicken Pies because they may contain sulphites which are not mentioned on the label. According to the FSA, this means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide and, or sulphites.

The budget retailer is recalling its Carlos Takeaway Meat Feast Pasta Bake because it contains mustard which is not mentioned on the label. The product is therefore a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to mustard.
