abhishek banerjee: Election Commission seeks report on I-T search of helicopter used by Abhishek Banerjee

Cooch Behar: The Election Commission (EC) has sought a report from the district election officer regarding the ‘search’ conducted on the helicopter used by Trinamool leader Abhishek Banerjee by Income Tax department officers on Sunday, a senior official said.

Earlier in the day, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee lashed out at the BJP over the misuse of Central agencies, especially the I-T department, saying that her party does not carry gold or money in helicopters. Meanwhile, Abhishek said he would take legal action for intimidation of his security officials.

“You are sending ED, CBI, I-T and NIA — all the agencies. Abhishek was scheduled to go to a meeting. His helicopter was raided. We don’t move around with money and gold. When I have scarce resources, I will ask the mothers and sisters of Bengal to help,” Banerjee said during her Cooch Behar rally,

Banerjee alleged the BJP is misusing central agencies against the Trinamool. “I-T officers conducted a raid and searched his (Abhishek Banerjee) chopper before the trial run, but nothing was found. Those I-T officials claimed that they had inputs that there was money and gold in the chopper. We don’t carry money in helicopters. We don’t engage in such acts.”
