Andaz Apan Apna is one of the best Hindi comedy films that people of every generation enjoy. The 1994 Rajkumar Santoshi directorial stars Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Karisma Kapoor and Raveena Tandon. The film is loved for its hilarious stories and also the camaraderie between Aamir and Salman’s characters Amar and Prem.
Just because the movie was entertaining does not mean things were equally chill on the sets. At least that’s what Aamir and Salman’s co-star from the film, Shehzad Khan, has revealed. Shehzad played Vinod Bhalla’s character in the movie. In an interview, he told what exactly caused tensions and fights between Aamir Khan and Salman Khan on the sets.
In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Shehzad Khan revealed that he has seen Aamir and Salman’s strained relationship before his eyes. He said, “Salman is Salman, and Aamir is Aamir. I won’t blame anyone for it. Often, I used to be the bridge between them. I have been very close to Salman since childhood; toh cheezein nipat jaati thi (so things used to be sorted out). Aamir would reach the Mud Island bungalow at 7–7.30 in the morning when call time used to be 9 a.m. Salman bechaare 10-11 baje tak aa hi jaate the (poor Salman would come by 10-11).”

Shehzad Khan further supported Salman and stated that it is difficult to come from Bandra. Sometimes, the car broke down; sometimes, another issue would happen.” Shehzad added how different the working approach of the two actors was. Aamir was a one-take actor, and Salman Khan would need multiple takes. But both the actors gave commendable performances. Khan said no one could tell if it was take 32 or just one take. He added that despite everything, Aamir and Salman never had a direct confrontation on the sets of Andaz Apna Apna. However, he is unsure if anything went wrong between the two behind closed doors.
Meanwhile, years ago on Koffee With Karan, Aamir Khan had revealed that he had a bad experience working with Salman. The Laal Singh Chaddha actor didn’t like Salman back then and found him rude and inconsiderate. Well, today, both the Khans are good friends. They always support each other personally and professionally.
Currently, Aamir is busy with the promotions of Laapataa Ladies, produced by Aamir Khan Productions and directed by his ex-wife Kiran Rao. His next film is Sitaare Zameen Par, helmed by R Prasanna. The film also stars Genelia D’souza. Salman’s next is Vishnuvardhan’s action film, The Bull.
