A packed slate of M4 Macs might hit the shelves in November

The wait for M4 generation Macs is finally concluding in the coming weeks. According to Bloomberg, Apple will put a fresh portfolio of Macs with the M4 silicon inside on the shelves starting November 1.

At the top of the list is the Mac Mini, which is reportedly getting variants with M4 and M4 Pro processors. This one is going to be special, as previous reports from the same outlet have predicted a long-overdue design overhaul for the machine.

The upcoming Mac Mini will reportedly be “far smaller than its predecessor, approaching the size of an Apple TV set-top box.” Apple’s new entry-level desktop is said to be more compact, but a bit taller than the last one.

While testing different hardware designs, Apple has reportedly tried out a version with three USB Type-C ports, switching it up from the current M2 model’s format of two Thunderbolt 4 Type-C and an equal number of USB Type-A ports.

The M4, in the iteration that currently powers the 2024 iPad Pro pair, packs four performance cores and six efficiency cores, alongside a 10-core GPU. The Pro variant will expectedly pack in more CPU and GPU cores, if Apple’s history is anything to go by.

In addition to the Mac Mini, we are also expecting what Bloomberg refers to as a “low-end 14-inch MacBook Pro with M4 chip.” This will be accompanied by mainline upgrades for the top-shelf 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models.

Interestingly, a Russian YouTuber has shared a full unboxing and hands-on video showing the unannounced M4 MacBook Pro. The video gives us a glimpse at a familiar design, a 10-core CPU + 10-core GPU configuration for the M4 processor inside, an HDMI port, an SD card slot, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB storage.

Apple is also expected to launch a refreshed version of the iMac. We are not expecting any new size trims, and the aesthetics will likely be familiar as well, save for the addition of fresh color options. But it seems that not all the devices mentioned above will go on sale at the same time, as customers could be in for a phased market release.
