Terry’s Chocolate Oranges have become a staple here in the UK.
The delicious chocolates, often associated with Christmastime, do exactly what they say on the tin. They’re orange in every sense of the word.
The product consists of a ball-shaped chocolate treat that is segmented like an orange, with each segment being a slice of chocolate that often includes orange oil to give it an authentic orange flavour.
It’s then wrapped in orange-coloured foil and packaged in a box that often resembles the citrus fruit. So what would you say if we told you that you can get versions of the sweet treat that don’t actually contain any zesty flavourings?
Many of us know that Terry’s has ventured into white chocolate and mint flavours. But did you know it does plain old milk chocolate, too?
B&M has launched the new Terry’s Chocolate Milk in stores nationwide – and it has distinctive bright blue packaging. While the shape of the confectionary is the same, it doesn’t have that citrusy punch we’re used to.
In other words, it is a plain chocolate bar (or ball). And this has definitely sparked a mixed response!
While chocolate orange haters are delighted they’ll finally get to enjoy the sweet treat, others think the new product just won’t be as good as the original recipe.
One commenter gushed: “Oh my god, I hate orange chocolate so this is a bit of me for sure”. Another agreed, commenting: “I need to try this,” while a third added: “Finally, one that I can eat!”
However, others were quick to slam the ‘boring’ flavour and accused Terry’s of targeting ‘people who ask for a plain McFlurry’ and have more vanilla tastebuds.
An angry foodie insisted: “Not having this”. Another fumed: “What is the actual point of this?” A third added: “Not impressed,” while a fourth simply asked: “Why?”
So would you try it? If you don’t fancy it, you can always just stick to the original!
