8 executive lunches for US$100 or less in Hong Kong, and 1 worth busting budget for

Read on to see our selection of the best venues for entertaining clients in Hong Kong for HK$780 (US$100) or less, and one to push the boat out a little.

1. Hansik Goo

We like the executive lunch (HK$588/US$75) at Hansik Goo, not only because of its price but because it is a little off the beaten path at The Wellington building, on the cusp of Central and Sheung Wan. The layout is ideal for private meetings because there is an area at the back that is separate from the main dining room.
Our favourite items on the five-course lunch menu include the abalone mandu – a dumpling that uses thinly sliced abalone for its skin with a minced Hanwoo beef filling – as well as the bansang set that includes five types of side dishes, soup and your choice of fish, ginseng chicken or Hanwoo beef for mains.

2. Castellana

Castellana can be found on Ice House Street. We like it because of the well-spaced seats that are just out of earshot from one another. There is a budget-friendly lunch menu that starts at HK$480 for two courses, and HK$580 for three. There is also a four-course menu for HK$1,080 that includes the restaurant’s signature guinea fowl.

3. Arbor

What better way to impress your clients than a two-Michelin-star spot? The views and execution are both excellent here, and the three-course lunch menu is HK$688; you can upgrade to chef Eric Raty’s signature pigeon dish for an extra HK$240.

We also love the fluffy brioche with Asian-inspired butter pairings.

Ryota Kappou Modern has about 20 seats in the main dining area.

4. Ryota Kappou Modern

This Michelin-star establishment has about 20 seats in the main dining area, making it ideal for a situation requiring some privacy. Twelve of the seats are on the counter but there are seats off to the side that can be requested.

The signature lunch starts at HK$780, with three appetisers plus a main and dessert. Little additions such as a sea urchin and Wagyu bowl are available for HK$200 extra.

5. Octavium

The Octavium lunch menu starts at HK$620 for two courses and goes up to four courses for HK$980, and features a line-up that includes a selection of pasta with the perfect al dente bite. This can change seasonally, but we love the slow-cooked beef cheek for starters and the home-made pappardelle with veal sweetbread ragu. The tiramisu is not to be missed.

6. Lobster Bar and Grill

The Lobster Bar and Grill’s three-course menu is HK$598, while its four-course option is HK$698. We like that it is also available on Saturdays for those who work on the weekend.

Patrons can look forward to the restaurant’s signature lobster dishes, while steak au poivre and chicken escalope are options for mains. The strawberry Eton mess with a Sichuan peppercorn meringue is a must-try for dessert, and a wine pairing is also available.

7. Sabatini’s IFC

The four-course lunch option will set you back HK$688, while three courses cost HK$588. Its famous antipasti buffet offers top-quality hams and salads to start before you dig into a pasta, main course and then dessert. The menu changes periodically but the Gorgonzola, pear and sausage risotto is a favourite.

LPM is somewhere to impress clients with great food and atmosphere.

The restaurant is set to reopen in September after closing for renovations, and we hope that the budget-friendly four-course business lunch (HK$498 a person) – which leaves a budget for a cheeky glass of wine or two – will make its return.

Each diner gets to choose two starters, a main course and a dessert, which includes the popular French toast on the menu.

9. Tempura Uchitsu

Tempura Uchitsu busts our budget a bit, but is worth it. Offering counter seating that is limited to 12 seats – although there is a private room available too – its lunches start at HK$1,080 for nine courses, which makes it a spot for entertaining more important clients.

Look out for the tempura dishes, made with paper-thin, crisp batter, such as the tempura sea urchin. The restaurant can limit lunch to 75 minutes for those who do not have time to sample its menu at the customary relaxed pace.
