4th-gen Suzuki Swift Scores Four-Star Rating in Japanese NCAP Crash Tests

The Indian spec might not come with a similar safety rating as the International spec. However, customers can expect better-built quality than before. 

The tech-loaded fourth generation of Maruti Suzuki has scored a four-star rating out of five in the global NCAP (Japan). The news surfaced at the time when the vehicle is expected to arrive in the Indian market somewhere in May 2024.

To note, the Indian spec might not come with a similar safety rating as the International spec. However, customers can expect better-built quality and improved safety features from the vehicle.

Crash Test Ratings

It has been reported that the all-new Swift has scored 177.8 out of 197, making it safer than ever. In preventive safety performance, the model model has received 88.7 points out of 89. Apart from this, the new Swift scored 81.1 points out of 100 for occupant protection during the crash.

Overall Safety

The full frontal was tested at 55 km/h, the side profile was tested at 55 km/h, while frontal-offset and rear-end collision were put on the ordeal at 64 km/h and 64 km/h respectively.

Expected Updates

Meanwhile, the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Swift is likely to share the footprints of international spec, featuring the similar front fascia, identical LED headlight setup, fog lamps and side profile.

When it comes to the interior, the 2024 model will feature improved cabin, and will offer an updated touchscreen infotainment system, support by all car connect technology including Android, Auto and Apple Carplay.

At the safety front, it will get a long list of robust features such as reverse parking, six airbags,a speed warning, three-point seatbelts at the back, ABS with EBD, parking sensor, among others.

Engine

Under the hood, the model will use the Z Series 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine. It will generate a max power of 90hp and 113Nm of peak torque.
