12th Fail: The Toulouse Indian Film Festival’s ninth edition saw the biography on IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma take home the Best Film prize.
The Vikrant Massey film ‘12th Fail‘ has been in theatres for several months, and even now, it continues to gain popularity. At the 9th Toulouse Indian Film Festival, the movie took home the Best Film prize. ‘12th Fail,’ which is based on a novel by Anurag Pathak, tells the story of Manoj Kumar Sharma, an IPS officer who overcame abject poverty. The movie highlighted his career and the role his wife, IRS officer Shraddha Joshi, had in helping him advance. Sharing the update, the social media team of Vidhu Vinod Chopra Films took to Instagram and wrote, “As the curtains rise on the 9th Festival des Cinemas Indiens, ’12th Fail’ illuminates Pathe Wilson. ’12th Fail’ secures the title of Best Film at the Toulouse Film Festivall! Thank you for all the love.”
12th Fail Wins Best Film Award
The co-producer of the movie, Yogesh Ishwar Dhabuwala, accepted the prize and stated that it’s an honest movie with all the right intentions and emotions, and it leaves the audience with a meaningful message. Everyone from Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone to Kangana Ranaut and Katrina Kaif applauded the movie after its OTT release.
The movie is scheduled to open in China after spending 25 weeks in theatres. The creators of 12th Fail have been aiming for a China release for a while, revealed Vikrant. Speaking to India Today, he said that the movie will be shown in more than 20,000 Chinese theatres.
The movie premiered in theatres on October 27 last year and also stars Anant Joshi, Anshumaan Pushkar, Priyanshu Chatterjee, and Sarita Joshi. Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s directorial became well-known through word-of-mouth and grossed around Rs 60 crore globally at a period when most mid-budget movies weren’t even having theatrical releases.
Vinod Chopra plans to release Zero Se Restart, starring Vikrant Massey and Medha Shankr, worldwide on July 19. This is a behind-the-scenes peek at the film’s production.
