Zegna has become the latest European luxury label to occupy a retail spot at the five-star Rosewood Miramar Beach resort in upscale Montecito, Calif.
The seaside community is home to celebrities including Gwyneth Paltrow, Ariana Grande and Oprah Winfrey as well as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Housed in a small bungalow toward the resort’s entryway, the 505-square-foot contemporary space carries the Italian brand’s latest menswear collections, designed by Alessandro Sartori. Styles feature luxury leisurewear staples including the versatile overshirt, formalwear and the iconic Triple Stitch leather sneaker. The brand’s Made to Measure service is also available.
The sleek interior is complemented with Mariantonia Urru carpets handcrafted for Zegna on the Italian island of Sardinia.
Zegna’s new boutique is located near a recently opened Bottega Veneta store, also housed in a bungalow. Inside the resort hotel sits a Brunello Cucinelli shop off the main lobby, near other stores including The Webster and Goop Sundries.
This is Zegna’s fourth California outpost and more could be on the way. In the second half of this year, Neiman Marcus in Los Angeles will convert its Zegna account to a concession. In a recent earnings report, Gildo Zegna, grandson of the brand’s founder and the chairman and chief executive officer of the Ermenegildo Zegna Group, said more U.S. stores are in the pipeline.
In the first quarter of this year, the Milan-based company said its Zegna revenues amounted to 282.9 million euros, up 4 percent from the previous first quarter, driven by key categories including footwear and leisurewear, which makes up around 50 percent of the brand’s revenues.
Last year, the company’s revenues, which include its other brands Thom Browne and Tom Ford Fashion, totaled nearly 2 billion euros. The publicly traded company is listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
