For the first time, Yash and Nayanthara are collaborating in ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups‘. The cast also includes Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, and Shruti Haasan. This ambitious project is being produced as a pan-Indian film on a large scale.
A report in Hindustan Times states that the film is set between the 1950s and 1970s. An entire world of Toxic has been created—a larger-than-life version of that era yet very authentic. The set is situated on the outskirts of Bangalore, and the level of detail is something that will blow the audience’s mind. The film is touted as an action-oriented film set against the backdrop of the drug mafia.
‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups’ is directed by Geetu Mohandas. The film was declared in December 2023 and is scheduled for release on April 10, 2025. Initially, Kareena Kapoor Khan was supposed to make her South Indian film debut as Yash’s sister, but she later exited the project and Nayanthara took her place. Sai Pallavi was also considered for the film but was replaced by Shruti Haasan, who will now play Yash’s love interest.
A few months ago, a source revealed to ETimes that “Shruti Haasan will be playing a vital role in the film.” In her latest on-screen role, Shruti Haasan starred as the leading lady opposite Prabhas in the film ‘Salaar’.
‘Toxic’ will be Yash’s 19th film. Recently, a teaser video was released, produced by Venkat K Narayana, giving a glimpse of its narrative with the tagline, “A fairytale for grown-ups.”
