New Design and Technology
Yamaha’s new carbon fibre design is inspired by the R1M’s carbon bodywork, applied using advanced water-dipping technology. This new look can be seen on the front cowl, side fairings, and the rear side panels. In addition, the R15M includes an all-black fender, new decals, and blue wheels at both ends, adding to the bike’s visual appeal.
The bike offers enhanced features, including turn-by-turn navigation and music control, accessible through Yamaha’s Y-Connect app. Riders need to download the app on their smartphones to sync with the bike. Other additions include upgraded switchgear, a new LED license plate light, fully digital TFT screens, Bluetooth connectivity, traction control, and a quick shifter.
Engine and Performance
The R15M continues to run on a 155cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder petrol engine, delivering 18bhp of power at 10,000 rpm and 14.2Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox featuring a quick shifter for smoother gear transitions.
Eishin Chihana, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India Group of Companies, said, “Yamaha motorcycles are well known for their exhilarating performance, exciting agility, and eye-catching sporty design. Since its launch in 2008, the R15 has embodied class-leading performance and enabled numerous consumers in India to experience the joy of riding a SuperSport motorcycle with thoroughbred Yamaha Racing DNA.”
Yamaha’s R15M is expected to attract younger consumers in India who are familiar with Yamaha’s international models, acknowledging the lineage and technology trickling down from the R1.
