In the just-concluded Lok Sabha elections, the Congress won 13 seats, while the Shiv Sena (UBT) bagged nine and the NCP (SP) eight
Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday said that the MLAs who left his party in 2022 to join the Eknath Shinde-led camp leading to the split of Shiv Sena, will not be taken back into the party even if they want to come back.
“Those who left us and now want to come back, they will be not taken back at all,” said Thackeray adding that the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance will contest the Assembly elections in Maharashtra together.
“The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) victory in the Lok Sabha polls in Maharashtra is the beginning and not the end. Our alliance will win the upcoming assembly elections in the state as well,” said Uddhav Thackeray.
Thackeray said people of the state showed how hollow the myth of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s invincibility is.
Similarly, the Nationalist Congress Party (SP) chief Sharad Pawar also ruled out any possibility of taking his nephew Ajit Pawar back to his party.
On the other hand, Congress leader Chavan said after the Lok Sabha poll results, a change of government was imminent in Maharashtra.
‘We Thank PM Modi…’: Sharad Pawar Takes A Dig At BJP
Nationalist Congress Party (SP) Chief took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and thanked him for making the political atmosphere conducive for the Maha Vikas Aghada (MVA).
“We thank PM Narendra Modi for making the political atmosphere conducive for the MVA.”
Pawar’s remarks were about the just-concluded Lok Sabha elections, in which the Congress won 13 seats, a quantum jump from the solitary seat it won in the state in 2019, while the Shiv Sena (UBT) bagged nine and the NCP (SP) eight.
Sharad Pawar was joined by Shiv Sena (UBT) supremo Uddhav Thackeray and Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan for a joint press conference where all the leaders expressed confidence in the alliance for the upcoming Assembly elections.
The MVA Seat-sharing Arrangement
In the seat-sharing deal for the general elections, the Uddhav Thackeray-led party had the largest share of seats among the three parties. Of the total 48 Lok Sabha seats, the Sena (UBT) contested 21 seats, followed by Congress at 17 and NCP (SP) at 10.
In comparison, the ruling Mahayuti could bag just 17 seats, with the BJP’s seat tally coming drastically down to nine from the 23 (it won in 2019). The Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena won seven, while the Ajit Pawar-led NCP could get just one seat.
