AN elderly woman is fighting for her life in hospital after being struck by a van.
She was riding a mobility scooter when the collision happened on Cumberland Street in Glasgow yesterday.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene near the junction with the A730 Caledonia Road after the alarm was raised around 2.30pm.
The 65-year-old was riding a blue mobility scooter when she was struck by a white Renault Trafic van.
She was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for emergency treatment.
Her condition is not currently known but her injuries have been described as life-threatening.
No one else was hurt in the collision.
The busy road was closed and reopened to traffic around 6.30pm.
Cops launched a probe following the incident and officers’ enquiries remain ongoing.
Police have urged any witnesses to get in touch.
Officers are particularly interested in hearing from motorists with dash cams who were in the area around the time of the collision.
Sergeant Adnan Alam said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we are appealing with anyone who saw what happened to come forward.
“In addition, if anyone who was in the area at the time and has dash-cam footage that could assist with our investigation then please get in touch.”
