A WOMAN who died after being pulled from a river has been named by cops as a man was charged with murder.
Emergency services rushed to Yorkshire’s River Derwent at around 11.40pm on Wednesday.
Fire crews said they dragged two people from the waterway.
Onlookers and police were said to have quickly started CPR on the woman.
She was taken to hospital where she tragically died.
Cops have now named the woman as 49-year-old Lisa Welford from Malton.
North Yorkshire Police said they have also charged a 47-year-old Malton man, who was known to Lisa, with murder.
He is due to appear at court on April 29.
Detective Chief Inspector Shaun Page said: “Our thoughts are with Lisa’s family and friends at this very sad time.
“We have charged a 47-year-old man with murder.
“We understand the disruption and distress it has caused locally, and I want to thank the community for their patience and support as we continue to investigate this isolated incident.
