Wine expert says ‘run don’t walk’ to Aldi to nab £6.99 Whispering Angel dupe

Whispering Angel, which costs £21 from Sainsbury’s, has become a favourite among rosé drinkers and A-listers.

The pale rosé is produced in Provence, France and is known for its citrusy, grapefruit flavours.

The dry rosé has been described by fans on Vivino, the world’s largest wine marketplace, as “light and delicate”, “easy to drink” and “the perfect rosé”.

However, wine expert and founder of Partner in Wine, Lucy Hitchcock, claimed Aldi’s offering is a dupe of the pricy rosé.

Lucy, who goes by @partnerinwineuk on TikTok, said the wine from Aldi has “summer beach days written all over it” in a video on the platform.

She added: “If you love Whispering Angel, then you need to know about this dupe!”

The £6.99 Whispering Angel dupe from Aldi is back in stock and is a “limited edition” bottle.

Lucy said if rosé-lovers want to get their hands on it, “you need to run not walk down to Aldi”.

The wine expert said this one has “unreal flavours” of strawberry, cranberry, peach and tropical fruit which is balanced out by “gorgeous freshness”.

Lucy’s video was inundated with responses with many claiming they loved the wine.

One fan said: “RUNNING… no sprinting to Aldi.”

Another wrote: “This has made my day! Been looking for this all winter long.”

A third commented: “Last year’s video made me bulk buy for my hen and wedding — stocking up again this year after I give birth.”
