Will your device support Apple Intelligence?

Not everyone will be able to benefit from Apple’s new artificial intelligence features in upcoming versions of iOS, iPadOS and macOS. To do so, you’ll need very recent hardware.

Apple caused quite a stir at its last major annual developer conference (WWDC 2024) by unveiling the AI-related features that will drive the next versions of its various operating systems, iOS 18, iPadOS 18 and macOS Sequoia. Unfortunately, not everyone will be able to take advantage of them. In fact, you’ll need a very recent iPhone, iPad or Mac.

Apple Intelligence will be available free of charge as a beta version in iOS 18, iPadOS 18 and macOS Sequoia in English in the United States this fall, before being gradually rolled out worldwide. Some additional features and languages will not be available until 2025.

To take advantage of them, you’ll need the latest generation of iPhone or an iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max. For iPads and Macs, you’ll need a device equipped with an M1 chip or later.

Apple Intelligence will place powerful generative AI models at the heart of Apple devices, offering the ability to perform common tasks more quickly and easily, from writing texts and email messages to photo editing and written transcriptions of telephone conversations. – AFP Relaxnews
