The UBT faction held a ‘mega conference’ at Worli where it invited lawyers like Asim Sarode as well as Rohit Sharma to prove how the decision by Narwekar was “flawed”. Both Sarode and Sharma claimed that Narwekar had gone beyond the mandate set by the Supreme Court. “The legislative party wing is a temporary measure; it is only for five years while the political party is constant but Narwekar has taken the legislative party majority as the criteria to rule in favour of the Shinde faction,” said Sarode.
He claimed that the Speaker’s move to write to the Election Commission of India seeking the Shiv Sena’s constitution was part of a “conspiracy” with the ECI to rule against the UBT.
At the press conference, Uddhav Thackeray said that the Supreme Court is the last hope for justice for them and claimed that the party would take its battle to the people.
