PM Modi’s 80-minute-long message underlined the BJP’s strategy to expose the AAP on local issues of Delhi as he said people in the national capital are angry with the Kejriwal-led party
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, adopting a strategy of speaking on local issues with BJP workers regarding the Delhi election campaign, said people in the national capital are angry with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which is getting nervous as polls near.
PM Modi’s 80-minute-long message underlined the BJP’s strategy to expose the AAP on local issues of Delhi. He has given two big tasks to BJP’s workers — ensuring the highest turnout in their booth in the last decade, and achieving 50%-plus vote share for the BJP in every booth of Delhi. He said BJP’s workers must “expose the lies of AAP-Da”.
“Delhi’s people are sick of AAP’s lies, they have duped the people. They do new announcements daily because they hear news of defeat from various areas daily. People of Delhi have seen through AAP’s nervousness. AAP says ‘Phir Aayenge’ and people in the crowd say “Yeh Phir Khayenge (they will do more corruption),” the prime minister said.
The PM has also kept up his attack on AAP on the major issue of corruption, saying the focus of Arvind Kejriwal’s party was only on one thing – “Sheeshmahal Banao”. He said every Delhi resident remembers the lies of AAP when he or she sees Sheeshmahal. “It is a living symbol of corruption. Money was spent like water on Sheeshmahal,” the prime minister said, alluding to a C&AG report.
Modi said the people of AAP have no shame despite the Sheeshmahal and liquor scams. “No Delhi resident likes this and they are angry with AAP,” the PM said.
The prime minister said social activist Anna Hazare was also upset with Kejriwal as he established a party on the issue of Jan Lokpal, which does not exist in Delhi or Punjab where AAP has governments.
“AAP showed CAG reports to expose the Congress’s corruption. Today, CAG reports exist but AAP is hiding them for the last four years as they are afraid of the truth and people knowing about their sins. We will table the CAG reports in assembly as soon as we come to power,” he said. Modi added that Delhi should have an identity as national capital just like Bengaluru, Gurgaon, or Noida has. “AAP just blames others and does not do any work. We need double-engine government in Delhi,” he said.
Focus on Local Issues
The PM said water and tanker mafia is operating in Delhi and people are forced to drink dirty water. He said AAP “hates people of Purvanchal as they made migrants leave Delhi during the Covid-19 pandemic”. The PM also said AAP does not want to adopt the Ayushman Bharat scheme in Delhi “out of ego” as they don’t care for the people of Delhi. He said BJP will give safe drinking water to people in Delhi through a mega campaign, like in other states. “Sharab toh milti hai, paani nahi milta hai,” the prime minister said, referring to the condition of Delhi.
He said AAP should have improved roads, sewers, build parks and parking spaces – but they did not fulfill any responsibility. He said AAP should also be exposed on the electricity bill issue as people’s bills have increased. The PM said BJP will clean the Yamuna like it had done with the Sabarmati riverfront and at the Kumbh. “AAP earlier said if they don’t clean Yamuna, then people should not vote for them. Show those videos.”
He said videos of AAP leaders’ earlier statements must be shown to people to expose their lies with proof. “We will improve Delhi’s government schools in the true sense with free education from KG to PG,” the PM said. He said AAP promised to build houses, but did nothing. “But we have pictures of the houses built by BJP in Delhi, show them to the people,” the PM said.
BJP’s Promises
The PM said the BJP’s promise of Rs 2,500 for women in Delhi will be fulfilled after the win in the national capital. “We are giving money under women’s scheme in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha and other states. We fulfill our promises,” he said. The prime minister said AAP is copying the Congress in making promises in Delhi but they have a government in Punjab where they fulfilled no promises like the Rs 1,000 per month to women.
“People in Delhi don’t trust AAP’s promises, they have seen what happened in Himachal. AAP is two steps ahead of Congress, they have all the bad qualities of the Congress party. This is AAP-Da model which makes promises in the air. Women are my biggest suraksha-kavach,” the prime minister said.
He also referred to the Centre’s decision on the 8th Pay Commission and said there are lakhs of families in Delhi who serve in the government sector or get pension. “Their future will change with 8th Pay Commission, do tell this to people,” the PM said. He said AAP has duped youth of Delhi who want Delhi to become a start-up hub.
Some Tips
The PM said BJP had won 1000s of booths during Lok Sabha polls and that he was fully confident that BJP’s great organisational strength in Delhi at booths will bring them a big win in the assembly too.
“In this election, victory is not enough. Each booth must have two aims – have highest turnout in last decade and aim for 50%+ vote share in each booth. We have to build such a strong government in Delhi,” the PM said.
Modi said people born in the last 25 years or those in the age group of 35-40 have only seen destruction in Delhi. “They have lost hope. We need to generate new confidence among such people,” the PM said.
