Product details

THIS! Isn’t Chicken and Bacon Wrap

  • Use by: All dates up to, and including June 18, 2024

The product is sold exclusively at WHSmith and is only available in stores. Customers who have bought an affected product have been warned not to eat it, and instead, return it to the store from where they were purchased for a full refund or contact [email protected].

A statement in the food recall issued by the Food Standards Agency read: “THIS! is taking the precautionary step of recalling a Chicken and Bacon wrap because of possible contamination with E. coli.

“E. coli has not been detected in the product listed but it is being recalled as a precaution. This product is only sold at WHSmith.”

The exact bacteria in question is the Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC), which can cause uncomfortable physical symptoms.

Symptoms caused by STEC organisms include severe diarrhoea (including bloody diarrhoea), abdominal pain, and sometimes haemolytic uremic syndrome, (HUS), a serious condition that can lead to kidney failure and can be fatal.

Other related food recalls linked to the E-coli outbreak include Greencore Group sandwiches, wraps and salads, which are sold in Aldi, Asda, by Amazon, Boots, Co-op, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons.

Samworth Brothers Manton Wood sandwiches and wraps sold in Tesco and One Stop stores have also been recalled as a precaution.
