The White House issued a statement condemning Tucker Carlson’s interview with a revisionist pseudo-historian named Darryl Cooper.
During a two-hour interview posted on Wednesday to X – where pro-Nazi content now runs wild under Elon Musk’s stewardship – Carlson and Cooper discussed World War II, which Cooper blamed primarily on Winston Churchill, whom he called the “chief villain” of the war. Cooper also claimed that Nazi Germany’s invasions yielded an unexpected number of “prisoners of war” and “political prisoners,” and that these people “ended up dead,” as if the Holocaust was some sort of unanticipated event rather than Adolf Hitler’s plan.
In response, Musk promoted the interview by posting, “Very interesting. Worth watching.” He ultimately deleted the tweet without explanation.
In a statement to Mediaite on Thursday, White House Senior Deputy Press Secretary Andrew Bates blasted the interview:
Giving a microphone to a Holocaust denier who spreads Nazi propaganda is a disgusting and sadistic insult to all Americans, to the memory of the over 6 million Jews who were genocidally murdered by Adolf Hitler, to the service of the millions of Americans who fought to defeat Nazism, and to every subsequent victim of Antisemitism. Hitler was one of the most evil figures in human history and the ‘chief villain’ of World War II, full stop. The Biden-Harris Administration believes that trafficking in this moral rot is unacceptable at any time, let alone less than one year after the deadliest massacre perpetrated against the Jewish people since the Holocaust and at a time when the cancer of Antisemitism is growing all over the world.
After the interview dropped, several of Cooper’s old social media posts were resurfaced by users. In July, he shared two images side by side. The one on the left showed Hitler walking through occupied Paris. The other showed drag queens in the city’s opening ceremony at the Olympics this year.
“This may be putting it too crudely for some, but the picture on the left was infinitely preferable in virtually every way than the one on the right,” Cooper wrote.
Cooper also posited the existence of Hell and said that Hitler is not there.
