Realme P1 5G (review) is one of the better performers in the sub-Rs 20,000 price segment and the handset has been receiving a lot of attention from buyers too. One of the handset’s primary competitors in this price range is the Moto G64 (review), which also offers impressive performance. But today, we will be focussing on a very specific aspect of these phones – battery performance. Battery backup, drain rate, and charging speeds have become crucial for any user to consider before buying a new phone. If you are confused between the Moto G64 and the Realme P1 and are wondering which phone offers a better battery performance, we are here to help you.

PCMark

First, we will be gauging how long it takes for the smartphone’s battery to drop below 20 percent from 100 percent. We do this using the PCMark battery benchmark. In this test, the Realme P1 5G registered 16 hours and 20 minutes on the test, while the Moto G64 registered 18 hours and 39 minutes on the test. The Moto G64 wins this round, by a handsome margin as it lasted more than two hours longer than the Realme handset. This makes sense owing to a larger 6,000mAh battery.

Video streaming

This is a crucial test as we mostly spend our day watching videos on our phones. In this test, we streamed the same YouTube video on both phones with similar brightness and volume settings to measure the battery drain on each device. After 30 minutes of streaming on each phone, the Realme P1 5G registered a battery drain of 3 percent compared to the marginally higher drain of 4 percent on the Moto G64. In absolute terms, the Realme P1’s battery dropped by 150mAh while the Moto G64 lost around 240mAh during this test. While the Realme P1 wins this round, it does so with a narrow edge.

Verdict

The Realme P1 5G and the Moto G64 each excel in different aspects of battery performance. The Realme P1 5G stands out with its fast charging capabilities and slower battery drain during video streaming. On the other hand, the Moto G64 boasts a slightly slower battery drain during gaming and offers a longer overall battery life considering it offers a massive 6,000mAh battery.

All things considered, it is fair to say that if you want a longer battery backup, Moto G64 would be a better choice for you. On the other hand, if you want to spend less time plugged in, the Realme P1 is a better choice, as it offers drastically faster charging. In other departments, these phones are almost too close to call. It is safe to say that both these phones offer good packages and you will not be disappointed with either choice.
