which phone gains an edge?

Apart from a big focus on performance and an aggressive price tag, the Realme GT 6T and iQOO Neo 9 Pro could be among your best choices if performance and super-fast charging speeds matter to you. Both devices have 120W charging support, capable of fully charging the phone (from 20 percent) in under 35 minutes. However, the new Realme GT 6T may gain an edge with a relatively bigger 5,500mAh battery unit (vs 5,160mAh battery on the iQOO Neo 9 Pro).

In that case, which one of the two offers a better battery life? Does a bigger battery mean a clear winner? Here’s a battery comparison between the Realme GT 6T and iQOO Neo 9 Pro.

PCMark

PCMark’s dedicated battery test provides a decent idea about the battery life in the most optimum condition. We conducted the test by enabling flight mode and adjusting brightness and audio levels to 50 percent. We also ensured that the Realme GT 6T and iQOO Neo 9 Pro were fully charged at the start of the test.

Interestingly, the Realme GT 6T lasted roughly 13 hours, while the iQOO Neo 9 Pro survived an additional hour (14 hours). The test automatically gets paused once the battery percentage drops to 20. The iQOO Neo 9 Pro gained an edge in the PCMark test despite carrying a relatively smaller battery.

Winner: iQOO Neo 9 Pro

Video streaming

We also tested the battery life by playing a high-res video on YouTube for 30 minutes. For a fair contest, we ensured that the temperature of both smartphones was similar at the beginning.

Gaming test

The Realme GT 6T and iQOO Neo 9 Pro are highly reliable performance-centric smartphones, which we validated in our recent performance comparison. Both smartphones can easily run demanding games, including BGMI, Real Racing 3, and Call of Duty. Our gaming test also evaluates the performance by playing these three titles.

After playing each game for 30 minutes, the average battery drop recorded on the Realme GT 6T and iQOO Neo 9 Pro was 7 percent. It’s important to note that this translates to different figures due to the two smartphones’ varying battery sizes. Specifically, the average battery drop for the Realme GT 6T was 385mAh, while for the iQOO Neo 9 Pro, it was 361mAh. This suggests that the iQOO Neo 9 Pro is more efficient.

Charging speed

As mentioned, the Realme GT 6T and iQOO Neo 9 Pro get 120W charging support. It is good to see that the brands are providing a charger in the box with the same output. However, in iQOO’s case, there’s a PD charger in the box, which can be highly useful to also charge laptops (if there’s PD support). Both smartphones lack wireless charging.

We began the charging test with 20 percent. The Realme GT 6T took 32 minutes, while the iQOO Neo 9 Pro achieved full charge in barely 23 minutes. Do note that the latter may have taken a shorter duration as it houses a relatively smaller battery, yet it is not significantly different.

Winner: iQOO Neo 9 Pro

Verdict

In our battery test, iQOO Neo 9 Pro emerged as the winner in most of the tests. The Realme GT 6T was ahead in the video streaming test. However, both smartphones gave each other a tough fight, and the differences are marginal.

It is also important to note that the Realme GT 6T’s base model is more affordable. It also has a 512GB storage option, which costs Rs 39,999, Rs 1,000 more than the iQOO Neo 9 Pro’s top variant (256GB storage).
