which is the better smartphone under Rs 30,000?

The OPPO F27 Pro+ has just launched in India at a starting price of Rs 27,999. The smartphone is the first to offer IP69 water & dust resistance in India, which exceeds even flagship offerings by Apple and Samsung. The price point positions it squarely against the Vivo V30e, which also carries the same starting price tag and launched back in May 2024. We’ll be comparing both smartphones today to find out which device is the better choice for you.

OPPO F27 Pro+ vs Vivo V30e: design

The OPPO F27 Pro+ features a classy design with a round camera dial that resembles the Find N series smartphones. The rear panel features a vegan leather back with a Cosmos Ring around the camera sensors and a middle leather layer, which has a slightly lighter hue compared to the rest of the panel. The smartphone weighs about 177g and is quite sleek at 7.99mm.

The curved OLED panel claims to have a screen-to-body ratio of 93 percent with thin bezels around it.  There’s a punch-hole cutout for the front camera, and the Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protects the panel against damage. Being the first IP69-rated smartphone, the device claims to be dustproof, resistant to continuous water immersion, water sprays and high temperatures. The smartphone is also Swiss SGS 5-star certified for added durability. It comes in Dusk Pink and Midnight Navy colours.

The Vivo V30e’s camera island on the back has also been changed to a circle, which houses the dual rear cameras alongside the Aura Light, which is also circular instead of square. There’s also a vertical gradient back towards the right of the rear panel.

At the front, there’s a curved display, which houses the front camera inside a punch-hole cutout. It is comparatively heavier at 188g (for the Velvet Red colour). It also comes in a Silk Blue colour with a similar design.

OPPO F27 Pro+ vs Vivo V30e: display

The OPPO F27 Pro+ features a 6.7-inch curved OLED display, compared to the slightly larger 6.78-inch AMOLED display on the Vivo V30e. In terms of visual quality, both phones have similar resolution and frame rate support, but the colours are likely to be richer on the OPPO F27 Pro+ due to its 100 percent sRGB and DCI-P3 colour gamut support. The Vivo V30e comes with a higher peak brightness level of 1300nits compared to 950nits on the F27 Pro+ and should offer better visibility outdoors.

OPPO F27 Pro+ vs Vivo V30e: cameras

The OPPO F27 Pro+ features a 64MP primary camera paired with a 2MP depth lens and misses out on the ultra-wide lens. In comparison, the Vivo V30e drops the depth lens in favour of a high-resolution 50MP ultra-wide lens.

The rear camera capabilities of the Vivo V30e will likely be better than those of the OPPO F27 Pro+. For selfies, the OPPO F27 Pro+ comes with an 8MP front camera compared to a 50MP front camera on Vivo V30e. The Vivo V30e seems to be the clear winner in terms of camera capabilities. OPPO F27 Pro+ vs Vivo V30e: performance & software

The OPPO F27 Pro+ is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7050 SoC, paired with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 powers the Vivo V30e, paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Both chipsets are comparable in terms of performance and have similar scores across AnTuTu and Geekbench benchmark tests, so the performance output in both devices is likely to be quite close.

When it comes to software, both phones come with Android 14-based ColourOS 14 skin on the OPPO F27 Pro+ and FuntouchOS 14 skin on the Vivo V30e. The OS skins offer a slew of features for improving day-to-day use, but both come with some pre-installed apps, which can be removed if you wish to. Both phones will receive 3 years of OS updates and 4 years of security updates to ensure they remain future-proof until 2027.

OPPO F27 Pro+ vs Vivo V30e: battery & charging

The OPPO F27 Pro+ features a 5,000mAh battery paired with 67W SUPERVOOC fast charging support, while the Vivo V30e features a larger 5,500mAh battery with 44W fast charging support.

When it comes to battery prowess, the Vivo V30e is likely to offer a better battery life owing to its higher-capacity cell. Comparing charging speeds, however, the OPPO F27 Pro+ should offer a faster charging speed due to its 67W fast charging support. The choice once again comes down to preferences: either a longer battery backup or faster charging speed.
