Several new smartphones have been launched in India in the first half of 2024. Among them are two powerful affordable-mid range phones: the Realme 13 Pro 5G and Motorola Edge 50 Fusion 5G. Both smartphones pack a powerful Snapdragon chipset, a similar display and selfie camera, and more. However, they also differ from each other in other departments. Realme 13 Pro vs Motorola Edge 50 Fusion: design
The Realme 13 Pro boasts a glass back panel, while the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion has a textured vegan leather back. Notably, the Realme smartphone packs a triple rear camera setup, which is circular in shape.
On the other hand, the Edge 50 Fusion offers a camera module similar to other Edge models. It packs dual rear cameras in a rectangular module on the top left. Meanwhile, their branding is done in the centre of the back.
Both smartphones have a curved display and a punch-hole selfie camera on the front. They feature the power key and volume buttons on the right edge. Meanwhile, the SIM slot, a USB Type C port, and a speaker grille are placed at the bottom edge.
While the Realme 13 Pro has an IP65 rating, the Edge 50 Fusion offers an IP68 rating, indicating that they are dust-tight and can withstand water jets. However, the Motorola phone’s IP rating provides superior protection against both dust and water exposure.
The Realme 13 Pro has been launched in Monet Gold, Emerald Green, and Monet Purple colours, while the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion comes in Forest Blue, Marshmallow Blue, and Hot Pink colour options.

The Realme 13 Pro offers a 6.7-inch curved display, similar to the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion. However, the Realme smartphone offers an OLED FHD+ display, while the Motorola smartphone has a pOLED panel for excellent colour quality and contrast.
Additionally, the newly announced Realme 13 Pro offers a 120Hz refresh rate, while the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion comes with a higher 144Hz refresh rate, which might be better for a lag-free gaming experience.
Furthermore, the Realme 13 Pro offers up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness, and the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion has 1600 nits of peak brightness, which suggests that the Realme 13 Pro might offer brighter visibility than the Edge 50 Fusion.

The Realme 13 Pro and Motorola Edge 50 Fusion both are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset, which we have also seen in the POCO X6. This chipset is touted as a mid-range chipset that offers a good blend of performance and efficiency.
However, the Realme 13 Pro also has a 3D vapour chamber cooling system, which is designed to dissipate heat during intense gaming sessions or other heavy tasks.
In our internal testing, the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion got an AnTuTu score of 620,648, while the Realme 13 Pro was marginally ahead at 664,130. When it comes to Geekbench, the Motorola phone has an edge (pun intended) with a single-core score of 1,020 and multi-core score of 2,945. Meanwhile, the Realme 13 Pro has a single-core score of 872 and a multi-core of 2,826.
Regarding storage, the Realme 13 Pro offers 8GB+128GB, 8GB+256GB, and 12GB+512GB storage variants, while the Edge 50 Fusion has 8GB+128GB and 12GB+256GB models. This indicates that the Realme smartphone offers more options to users than the Edge 50 Fusion.

The Realme 13 Pro flaunts a 50MP OIS-enabled Sony LYT-600 main camera, while the Edge 50 Fusion has a 50MP OIS-enabled Sony Lytia 700C main sensor. These sensors are different, but they are said to offer superior-quality photographs. However, the Sony LYT-600 sensor is said to be slightly better than the 50MP Sony Lytia 700C.
Moreover, the Realme 13 Pro also includes an 8MP ultrawide sensor and a 2MP sensor, and the Edge 50 Fusion incorporates a 13MP ultrawide camera, which might offer better ultrawide shots. Furthermore, with a 32MP front sensor, both smartphones are said to offer sharper and crisp selfies.

The Realme smartphone has a larger battery capacity compared to the Edge 50 Fusion. However, the Realme 13 Pro packs a 45W wired charging support. Meanwhile, the Edge 50 Fusion offers a faster 68W wired fast charging support.
This indicates that the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion might be charged more quickly, which is likely more convenient for several users.
In our charging test, the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion took 36 minutes to juice up from 20 percent to 100 percent on Turbo Charge and 54 minutes regularly. Meanwhile, the Realme 13 Pro took 52 minutes to go from 20 percent to 100 percent.
In the PCMark battery test, the Realme 13 Pro lasted 10 hours and 48 minutes, while the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion ran 9 hours and 53 minutes.
Furthermore, the Realme 13 Pro operates realme UI 5.0 based on Android 14, and the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion runs Android 14-based Hello UI out of the box.
Notably, the Realme phone will get two major Android OS updates and three years of security updates. In comparison, the Motorola device will get three major Android updates and four years of security patches.
Verdict
The Realme 13 Pro and Motorola Edge 50 Fusion offer a similar display size and chipset. The major differences between the two smartphones are their camera setups, batteries, and charging speeds.
The Realme smartphone offers a triple rear camera setup, while the Edge 50 Fusion has dual rear cameras. However, both camera modules are touted as powerful.
Also, the 5,200mAh battery on the Realme phone might be slightly better than the 5,000mAh battery on the Motorola phone but do not forget that the Motorola phone offers a faster charging speed.
