The budget 5G market is rapidly expanding in the country, driven by increasing consumer demand for affordable yet high-speed connectivity. This growth is further fueled by the influx of cost-effective 5G-enabled smartphones from various manufacturers. Previously, we conducted a performance comparison between the Realme C65 5G (review) and the Redmi 12 5G (review) to determine which smartphone offers superior performance. In this article, we are comparing the battery of both these smartphones to find out which budget smartphone performs better.

PCMark test
The PCMark battery test evaluates the time it takes for a smartphone’s battery to drop from 100 percent to under 20 percent and gives us a rough estimate of its usage time. The Realme C65 5G logged 16 hours and 40 minutes compared to 14 hours and 20 minutes registered by the Redmi 12 5G. The test implies that the Realme C65 5G is likely to offer better battery life.

Video streaming test
Next, we played a 30-minute YouTube video on both phones on similar brightness and volume levels to gauge the battery drain. At the end of the test, both phones registered a battery drop of 3 percent each. This round ended in a tie.

Gaming test
We played BGMI, Real Racing 3 and Call of Duty: Mobile for roughly 30 minutes each on both smartphones at similar graphical settings and 80 percent brightness to gauge the battery drain on each.
The Realme C65 exhibited a total battery drain of 21 percent (7 percent average drain) compared to the 19 percent drop (roughly 6.5 percent average drain) on the Redmi 12 5G. The Redmi 12 5G wins the gaming test, showcasing a slight edge over its competitors.

Charging speed
A 5,000mAh battery powers both smartphones. However, the Realme C65 5G comes with 15W fast charging support, and the Redmi 12 5G comes with 18W fast charging support. While testing both these smartphones, we found that the Realme C65 5G takes around 115 minutes to recharge from 20 percent to 100 percent, while the Redmi 12 5G takes 100 minutes to achieve the same. The Redmi 12 5G wins the round thanks to its comparatively faster charging speeds.

Verdict
The battery comparison between the Realme C65 5G and the Redmi 12 5G was quite a close contest, but ultimately, the Redmi 12 5G won. It offers a slightly more resilient battery and comparatively better charging speed, which sways the decision in its favour.
The Realme C65 5G, despite losing, is a solid contender and in real-life usage, you’ll hardly notice such minor differences. If you require potent battery life, the Redmi 12 5G is the better choice, but if you lean towards the Realme C65 5G, it’s still a worthy choice and you’re not missing out on a lot.
