New Delhi: The Civil Services Examination (CSE) is one of the toughest competitive exams in India. It is held annually by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Through this examination, eligible candidates will be recruited to join the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Audit and Accounts Service, Group ‘A’, Indian Civil Accounts Service, Group ‘A’, Indian Corporate Law Service, Group ‘A’, Indian Defence Accounts Service, Group ‘A’, and other civil services.

Hailing from the small village of Kurkuri in Phulwari Sharif, Bihar, IAS Priya Rani grew up. She encountered resistance to her education, but her grandfather was a constant pillar of support, encouraging her to pursue her studies. It was her grandfather’s strong resolve that motivated Priya to move to Patna for better educational opportunities, despite facing opposition in her village about girls’ education. She successfully finished her studies while living in a rented house in Patna.

Rani completed her schooling in her hometown before pursuing engineering. As per her LinkedIn account, Priya studied at St. Michael’s High School in Patna. Eventually, she enrolled in the B.Tech program in Electrical Engineering at the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BIT Mesra), Ranchi.

After finishing her engineering, Priya began working at a private company in Bengaluru, earning a good salary. However, she soon realized her passion for civil services and decided to leave her job to follow that dream.

In her second attempt, Priya secured a position in the Indian Defense Service. However, it was in the 2023 UPSC exam that she fulfilled her dream, achieving All India Rank (AIR) 69 and becoming an IAS officer.

Speaking of her UPSC marks, Priya secured 807 marks in the written examination and 193 marks in the personality test. Overall, she scored 1000 marks in the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2023.

As per her LinkedIn profile, Priya is serving as an Indian Defence Estates Service (IDES) officer in Kasauli and Dagshai Cantonment, Himachal Pradesh.
