WHEN is the SASSA old-age grant reapplication deadline for 2025?

Happily, if you’re a permanent South African resident who is over the age of 60 and receives a SASSA Older Person grant, you never have to reapply for your benefits ever again. And, barring any technical glitches or delays with your monthly grant, if you’re approved and loaded onto the system, Gov.za says you’re all set for the foreseeable future.

While a SASSA old-age grant reapplication will never be required as long as you maintain your eligibility, the government does say your agency benefits may occasionally be reviewed to check that you still qualify. This is to ensure people don’t take advantage of the system and there is a confirmation of life certificate to show you have not passed away.

A large number of fraudulent claims occur when family members illegally continue to claim after an elder’s death. That is why SASSA has the right to review your status. However, you must be notified three months in advance in writing ahead of the time so you can get your affairs in order.
