What Comes After Love premiered on September 23, 2024. This drama is based on a novel of the same name by Korean author Gong Ji Young and Japanese author Tsuji Hitonari. Four of six episodes of the show have aired so far but we are reviewing first two.
What Comes After Love follows Choi Hong (played by Lee Se Young), a Korean student in Japan. There she meets Jungo (played by Sakaguchi Kentaro). After a few more encounters, the couple begin dating. Soon, they move in together and start building a life of their own. But after a few years, they break up over differences and misunderstandings.
Years later, fate has plans for these lovers to cross paths again. Jungo, who was working towards becoming a writer, has finally become a successful one. He arrives in South Korea to promote his book and give interviews. Hong is his interpreter for a day due to a last minute change. The reunification is quite overwhelming for both of them.
In the present, we see that Hong has moved on in her life. She has lost her bubbly charm. She is friends with Kim Min Jun (played by Hong Jung Hyun) and her family considers him practically her fiance. Jungon the other hand is also dating. We only hear about his girlfriend over a phone call he gets after arriving in South Korea.
