‘We tried three hot cross bun flavours from Asda’

Tantalising the taste buds in the best way was the Asda Extra Fruity Hot Cross Buns.

Reviewed as “really juicy” and “really nice”, the hot cross buns had “sweet currants” that tasted delicious.

Asda’s Extra Fruity Hot Cross Buns were an all-round winner, with people saying they “enjoyed” eating them and one reviewer added: “It’s excellent with marmalade.”

With such highly rated reviews, the team gave Asda’s Extra Fruity Hot Cross Buns a 10 out of 10.

On the the flip side of the spectrum, many people were out off by Asda’s Extra Special 4 Triple Chocolate Hot Cross Buns.

People thought the white chocolate pieces resembled pieces of “mould”, so many people refused to take a bite.

For those less put off by its white slabbed appearance, the flavour turned out to be disappointing. While it was “OK”, the bun wasn’t moreish and so many bits were left over.

The bun was described as “overwhelmingly dry” and so the hot cross buns had a low rating – they were given a dismal two out of 10.

When it came to Asda’s Apple and Cinnamon Hot Cross Buns, people weren’t too keen on the flavour.

They too were described as “dry” and the reviewers weren’t impressed with the pack.

While some said the buns were “OK”, it’s clear that the buns were not popular in the Express office and it had a low rating of two.

It would seem that a break from the traditional fruity hot cross buns is not well received by most.

The only exception, it seems to be, is that chocolate – without white chunks putting people off – would be the best alternative.
