‘We taste tested the best Irish creams and one should be avoided’

Irish creams are a popular drink to enjoy over Christmas and many supermarkets coming up with new flavours.

So, we thought we would taste test six of the best Irish creams that are available on the market.

The drinks tested are easily available and can be bought in supermarkets or online. They vary in price ranging from £6 to £27.50.

However, there was a clear difference in taste with a clear winner standing out giving the drink an overall score of nine out of 10.

We drank responsibly and taste-tested the Irish cream products over a few weeks for the article. Here are the results in no particular order.

Coole Swan Irish Cream Liqueur

Price: £21.95 from Amazon online.

The drink has just enough sweetness to bring a balanced and smooth taste and is brilliantly served just neat.

Overall score: 7/10

Two Stacks Double Irish Cream Liqueur

Price: £27.50 from Fortnum and Mason online.

Two Stacks has a slight twist on their Irish cream with a velvety finish and layers of salted caramel and fig.

Overall score: 7/10

Original Magnum Cream Liqueur

Price: £25.95 from Master of Malt online.

A decadant drink which is shaped like a milk churn and is deliciously light yet rich. It can be paired with ice or adds an extra touch over ice cream.

Brady’s Country Cream 70cl

Price: £6 from Asda in-store or online.

Individuals can enjoy the drink neat or on ice but would recommend putting it into a cocktail or with coffee as it is quite watery.

Overall score: 5/10

Carthy’s Country Cream Liqueur

Price: £6 from Tesco in-store or online.

Like me, many online reviews haven’t rated this drink well thanks to its tasting very watery and lacking in depth of flavour.

Overall score: 3/10

Five Farms Irish Cream Liqueur 70cl

Price: £20 from Sainsbury’s with Nectar card in-store or online.

Made in the countryside of County Cork, Five Farms has a delightful richness to its drink which can rival big brand Baileys as the best Irish cream available on the market.

Overall score: 9/10

Hotel Chocolat Velvetised Chocolate Cream

Price: £22 from Tesco in-store or online.

A slightly pricier choice but if you’re a fan of the brand then you know how good its sweet treats are. Thankfully. this drink lives up to its expectations with its smooth chocolatey finish that you can’t help but have more than one glass.

Overall score: 7/10
