Matt Gaetz on Cameo via X
Matt Gaetz will not be the next attorney general and instead of preparing to lead the Justice Department, he spent part of his weekend on the video messaging app Cameo.
In one personalized message which was shared on social media Sunday morning, Gaetz addressed a woman named Lisa who presumably paid him the $525 fee he charges for personalized videos.
In the short clip, Gaetz wished Lisa a merry Christmas and a happy Thanksgiving and thanked her for supporting the conservative movement.
“I know you were bummed out when the news broke that I wouldn’t be the next Attorney General,” he said – later adding, “Also, say hello to your mother Carol for me.”
“This is just such an exciting time to be an American,” Gaetz also said. “We’ve got the House, we’ve got the Senate, we’ve got Donald Trump in the presidency.”
In another Cameo video, Gaetz joked that although he could not order drone strikes on people, he could “order you to have as much fun as possible.”
The former Republican congressman resigned from the House last week after he was nominated for AG by President-elect Donald Trump. He also later announced he would not join the next congressional session despite cruising to another reelection bid on Nov. 5.
It was reported Gaetz would join Cameo on Friday after it had become apparent he would not have the votes to be confirmed as attorney general and he withdrew his name from consideration. Trump has since offered the position to former Florida AG Pam Bondi.
According to Gaetz’s Cameo profile, he has five stars on the app from eight videos. His account reads:
