A trio of U.S. based scientists won the honor last year for their work on quantum dots. Moungi Bawendi of MIT, Louis Brus of Columbia University and Alexei Ekimov of Nanocrystals Technology Inc. shared the prize for research on tiny particles that can emit bright colors and are used in medical imaging, consumer electronics and more.
