Former Bollywood actress Mamta Kulkarni has been in news after she participated in a spiritual ceremony and was given the title of Mahamandaleshwar at the Maha Kumbh. But, about a week later, the Kinnar Akhara stripped her of title. In a recent chat, she spoke at length about her past, which also included her explosive and controversial semi-nude photoshoot for a magazine. Besides talking about her career as an actress, she also shared her perspective on spirituality.
Mamta Kulkarni shares her perspective on semi-nude photoshoot
In a recent interaction, Mamta Kulkarni showed no inhibitions in talking about the time she spent in the showbiz industry before she quit. The actress stressed on the fact that she is no longer interested in acting or the glamorous world of entertainment. Right now, she is only focusing on spirituality. She also stated that during her phase as an actress, she’d only focus was on dance steps that were given to her. She enever paid much attention to the lines in the films.
Mamta also shared her opinion on the her semi-nude photoshoot for Stardust magazine. For the unversed, the controversial photoshoot didn’t go down well with many. While talking about it in Aap Ki Adalat, Mamta said, “I was then studying in ninth standard. I was shown a picture of Demi Moore by the Stardust people, which I did not find to be obscene. I had also once said at one time, “I am still a virgin.” Since I did not know anything about sex, I didn’t know anything about nudity. In the last 23 years, I have not seen any pornography.”
Will Mamta return to acting?
Mamta, who had gained massive popularity in the ’90s is still known for her bold and glamorous Bollywood avatar. Following her decision to take sanyaas at the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 with the Kinnar Akhara, Mamta confessed that she’d never return to the film industry as it seems ‘unimaginable’. In a recent conversation with India Today, Mamta that she hasn’t even been thinking of a comeback. She said, “I can’t even imagine doing films again. It is absolutely impossible for me now.”
