Waitrose, Asda and Lidl issue urgent warning to shoppers about ‘unsafe’ food

Waitrose

Waitrose issued an important customer safety notice about popular snacks that have been labelled incorrectly and thus a recall is taking place in the supermarket.

In demand over the Christmas period, Waitrose Eight Red Onion Bhajis with a Date and Tamarind Dip are incorrectly labelled to be in date up to January 31, 2024.

There has been a labelling issue, which means the use-by date is incorrect, making them “unsafe to eat”.

Waitrose strongly advised customers to not eat the food product, but they can be returned to the store for a full refund.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) have also been made aware of the safety issue.

Asda

Another giant supermarket chain, Asda, also issued a warning about unsafe drinks sold in its stores. Refresco Beverages UK Limited, who supplied Asda with six multi-pack juice drinks, has issued an important recall due to potential metal contamination.

Six Asda brand multi-pack juice drinks are being recalled as a precautionary step in case of potential metal contamination in the straws, making them “unsafe”.

People in possession of any of the following six juice drinks can return the products to an Asda store for a full refund without the need of a receipt.

Lidl has also released a customer safety notice about Deluxe Irish Carved Peppered Turkey Breast, which has been labelled with an incorrect use-by date.
