Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on September 26 described religious conversion as “antithetical” to national values and constitutional principles, saying that a “sugar-coated philosophy” is being propagated to target vulnerable sections of society. He further said, “Sanatan never spreads poison. Another indication has been given and that is a very dangerous indication, it is going to change the politics of the country as well. It is happening in a policy manner, in an institutional manner, in a planned manner and that is religious conversion. Sugar-coated philosophy is being sold. Where do they go? They go to vulnerable sections of society. This issue affects our tribal people more. They lure them. I firmly believe that we are witnessing very painfully religious conversions in a structured manner as a policy and this is antithetical to our values and constitutional premises. There is an urgent need to work at a fast pace to neutralise such sinister forces. We will have to be alert. You cannot guess the number of people who are active today to divide India…”
