Vivo V40 Pro battery comparison with Realme GT 6 and Xiaomi 14 Civi: which phone offers the best battery life?

The Vivo V40 Pro launched last week in India with a few thoughtful upgrades over its predecessor, the Vivo V30 Pro. Since the Vivo V40 Pro features, a powerful MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ chipset, we conducted a comprehensive performance comparison between the Vivo V40 Pro (review), the Realme GT 6 (review), and the Xiaomi 14 Civi (review).

Another major upgrade is the phone’s larger 5500mAh battery. Today, we’ll do a battery comparison between the three phones to find out which device offers the longest battery life and faster charging speeds.

PCMark

The PCMark battery benchmark test helps us estimate a smartphone’s total video playback time. We ran the test at an 80 percent brightness level for each device to simulate real-world usage. The Vivo V40 Pro registered a score of 14 hours and 36 minutes on the test, the Realme GT 6 scored 14 hours and 45 minutes, and the Xiaomi 14 Civi logged a score of 12 hours and 15 minutes.

The Vivo V40 Pro and Realme GT 6 have similar battery capacities at 5500mAh, which explains why both phones have a nearly equivalent score. The Xiaomi 14 Civi has a smaller 4700mAh cell, which is roughly 14 percent smaller in comparison. Despite its smaller size, the Xiaomi 14 Civi still has a respectable score. As per the benchmark test, you’re likely to enjoy a longer battery life on the Realme GT 6, with the Vivo V40 Pro following closely behind.

Winner: Realme GT 6

Video streaming test

Next up, we played the same YouTube video on all three devices for 30 minutes each. We set all the phones to a 50 percent volume and brightness level to gauge their respective battery drains. The Vivo V40 Pro and Xiaomi 14 Civi had a similar battery drain of 3 percent each, followed by the Realme GT 6 at 4 percent.

The Realme GT 6 has a slightly higher battery drain than the other two, which is likely due to its significantly higher peak brightness level. The display’s brightness level has a direct correlation with battery drain. The video streaming test ends in a tie between the Vivo V40 Pro and the Xiaomi 14 Civi.

Winner: Vivo V40 Pro & Xiaomi 14 Civi

Gaming test

For the gaming test, we played BGMI, COD: Mobile and Real Racing 3 on all three phones for 30 minutes each. The games were played at a similar volume and brightness level to keep the results consistent. The Vivo V40 Pro registered a total battery drain of 18 percent, the Realme GT 6 registered a drain of 17 percent, and the Xiaomi 14 Civi registered a total drain of 21 percent, respectively.

The Realme GT 6 has the lowest average drain compared to the other two phones. The Vivo V40 Pro’s battery drain is marginally higher than that of the Realme GT 6, but it won’t make a significant difference in day-to-day usage. If you want better efficiency while gaming, both phones are good choices.

Winner: Realme GT 6

Charging speed

All three smartphones have varying fast charging support. The Vivo V40 Pro comes with 80W fast charging support, the Realme GT 6 has 120W fast charging support, and the Xiaomi 14 Civi comes with 67W fast charging support. Their charging times are naturally quite varied as well.

The Vivo V40 Pro takes 37 minutes to recharge completely from 20 percent capacity, while the Realme GT 6 takes 26 minutes and the Xiaomi 14 Civi takes 40 minutes, respectively. The Realme GT 6’s 120W fast charging support proves its potency, and it wins the charging test.

Winner: Realme GT 6

Verdict

The Realme GT 6 is the clear winner from the comparison so far. It outperforms the Vivo V40 Pro and the Xiaomi 14 Civi in benchmark tests, has lower battery drain while gaming and offers faster charging speed. If you’re looking for a capable smartphone under Rs 50,000 and a resilient battery and fast charging speeds are important factors for you, the Realme GT 6 is the top choice between these three phones.
