Defence Minister Rajnath Singh addressed the Armed Forces Veteran’s Day at Kanpur on January 14. “Kanpur has very historical importance in history, Peshwa Baji Rao led the rebel army from Kanpur during the first war for Independence in 1857… Captain Lakshmi Sehgal of the Indian National Army belonged to Kanpur…The place has witnessed the rise of various legendary personalities in our country. It is a matter of pride for me to honour the veterans of the forces… During my academic days, I was enrolled on NCC and now as a Defence Minister I feel that the virtues of my past lives have led me to establish this close relationship with the Indian Armed Forces,” says Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
