Vincent Pule fit to play against Orlando Pirates

Former Orlando Pirates star Vincent Pule is fit and ready to face his old team this coming weekend.

The winger joined SuperSport United from Pirates a few weeks ago. His first match for Matsatsantsa will see him face off against his former team in the MTN8 quarter-final on Saturday. Having reunited with Gavin Hunt, Pule could rediscover his form, which made him one of the league’s most exciting players.

Vincent Pule could be the key for SuperSport against Orlando Pirates

“He’s fine. He did the medicals,” Hunt said.

In the weeks he’s been here, he’s running and playing, so he should be able to play. But he’s not really 90 minutes fit, but he will have to play some minutes.

“We lost a left-sided player [Shandre Campbell]. We needed a left-sided player, and the one in the academy is a little too far away. Pule became available, so it’s the timing. He’s done well, so he looks good,” Hunt added.

Speaking to the media after leaving Orlando Pirates, Vincent Pule said he was excited to work with Hunt again.

“I’ve worked with coach Gavin before and that will help me here. I understand him as a person, as a father, and he has that mentality that I like – of winning trophies and competing to win every game. I think he is going to help me a lot in getting my confidence back.”

At Orlando Pirates, Pule suffered injury setbacks almost every season, missing several key games. The tricky winger hopes to be injury-free as Matsatsantsa searches for silverware this coming season.

“It’s going to be an exciting season and we are looking forward to competing in every competition. I hope we win a trophy or two,” he said as per Sowetan Live.

“I’ve struggled a lot with injuries; since I have been here, I have been training every day like a 20-year-old. Coach Gavin works hard, he is a person that likes to win at all costs.”

Pule is likely to start on the wing against Orlando Pirates this Saturday.
