Johannesburg Water will continue to have supply challenges again this week following the announcement of an unplanned maintenance on the network.
JOHANNESBURG WATER LISTS AFFECTED SYSTEMS BY THE UNPLANNED MAINTENANCE
The unplanned maintenance is expected to affect all Soweto reservoirs, Eagle Nest, Alan Manor, Naturena, Kibler Park, Crown Gardens, Aeroton, and most of Ranburg Reservoirs and towers; most Roodepoort reservoirs and towers; Commando system, Sandton system, Midrand system, South Hills tower, as well as, the Alexander Park, Linksfield, Randjieslaagte, and Modder Hill reservoirs.
Johannesburg Water customers are requested to reduce consumption to prevent depletion of Johannesburg Water’s storage capacity and ultimately low pressure to no water.

RAND WATER SYSTEM TO BE DISRUPTED BY ESKOM
According to the entity, the reason for this unplanned maintenance is due to Rand Water’s Palmiet and Eikenhof systems to be impacted by Eskom maintenance on a transformer supplying Rand Water’s Zuikerbosch Treatment Plant.
The outage will be from 08:00 to 15:00, according to Johannesburg Water.
VAAL CENTRA WATER ACCOUNTS FOR DISCOLOURATION
Meanwhile, murky and brown-like drinking water is the product that many households have been receiving from their taps in Vaal Central Water-fed areas of the Free State.
After numerous complaints, Vaal Central Water decided to address the concerns.
In a statement, Vaal Central Water confirmed to its customers in the Matjhabeng, Nala and Maquassi Hills Local Municipalities that excessive colour discolouration is being experienced in the drinking water that is distributed from the Balkfontein Water Treatment Works.
According to the bulk water supplier, this phenomenon is seasonal in nature and occurs annually at the start of the first heavy rains.
